Millennia World School Harmony In Action 2025
A few weeks ago, my school announced that we’d be having an event called Harmony in Action. It’s something we do every year, and it lasts for a whole week. Each day has a different theme—like Costume Day or a Book Fair—so there’s always something special just about everyday. You’re probably wondering what the week looked like, and what I did during those days. So, let’s get to it folks!
Monday: Opening for Harmony in Action
On Monday, we had a lot of stuff to do in the morning, like bringing books we needed to donate and an opening ceremony for Harmony in Action. The ceremony began with an opening from the student MC and a speech from the school director. Just in case you didn't know, a school director is different compared to a principal. The director's name is Ms. Mahrukh, but I don't know the principal's name. Don't blame me of not knowing the principal's identity, because my classmates don't know either! Anyway, back to the ceremony. Most of the ceremony was then performances from kindergarten to kick off the week. After the ceremony, the day went on just like usual, and the events would start the day after.
Tuesday: Talking Kites
On Tuesday, we had an event called "Talking Kites." We spent the day making kites at school, decorating them with little touches and positive messages. You might think making a kite would be easy, but trust me, it's anything but! We started by cutting out paper to fit the shape of the kite frame, but we had to make it a bit bigger than the frame itself. Then we glued the frame onto the kite and carefully folded the paper around it so it wouldn't fall off. After that, we attached the string, which turned out to be harder than I thought. Finally, we got to decorate our kites and write something positive on them, like "You matter!" Then came the fun yet toughest part—flying the kites. Trying to fly a kite with a hundred other people running around doing the same thing in a tiny space is a challenge. I was lucky that my string didn't entangled other kids. Oh, and it was super sunny with absolutely NO WIND. So, we were like dragging our kites instead of make them fly. A few kids even accidentally tore their kites while they were at it.
Wednesday: Playdate with children from Mizan Orphanage
On Wednesday, we had a ceremony to welcome the orphans from Mizan. It was in the morning, and it was super hot and sunny—so hot, in fact, that the teachers had to set up a big tarp to give us (and the orphans) some shade. Once the opening ceremony was over, we had a snack with the orphans. It was a potluck, so I grabbed a few donuts and sat with some of the orphans. They were really friendly and some of them even spoke a bit of English! I was surprised because I thought they could only speak Indonesian. We talked about movies and games. A few of them had known about Roblox, my favorite game, but most of them were not aware of it. I had thought Roblox was so popular that all kids in the world knew about it. However, I now think that not all kids are familiar with the latest tech. It made me realize that access to technology, something that I took for granted, is actually a luxury for other kids.
After the snack, we played memory games with the other students and some of the orphans. Our teachers showed pictures and we had to match the same picture. It was pretty easy. I guessed our teachers just wanted for us to have some fun rather than trained our memory. After a few hours, the orphans left to go back to Mizan, the day went on like usual—lunch, then heading home. However, I brought home new knowledge that there are unequal opportunities between us and the orphans. It made me kind of happy and grateful, but also sad at the same time. I was happy because I met new friends and gained new experience. Grateful for many blessings in my life, but I was also sad to learn that they were not as lucky as us at Millennia World School.
Thursday: Costume Day
Costume Day at school is when everyone—students and teachers—gets to dress up in fun, unique costumes. Well, supposedly unique. I’m not sure everyone got that part, because no less than seven kids showed up as Spider-Man. So much for originality.
But in my class, we nailed it. Everyone really brought something different. My best friend, Hira, came as SpongeBob and even had a basket full of Krabby Patties that he cooked himself. Two of my classmates were Jason from Friday the 13th and Freddy Krueger—creepy, but cool. Another friend was Steve from Minecraft, and Gian pulled off a full-on Lego man look. As for me, I went as Mechagodzilla. Pretty epic, if I say so myself, but that was just the boys.

One costume that threw me off was just a yellow shirt and pants. I had no idea what he was supposed to be until I remembered—my classmate dressed up as Tintin. Same thing he wore last Costume Day. Classic move.
The day wasn’t just about dressing up though—we had a costume catwalk and a performance too. I somehow ended up in both. I wasn’t even prepared for the performance; I only found out I was in it like thirty minutes before it started. I thought I completely messed it up because I didn't have time to practice the performance and a small part of the costume was broken. But guess what? I actually won Most Creative Performance and Costume, somehow.
Dad and I worked a lot on the costume. We started building the costume a month before the D-day. The costume was awesome! We made the low jaw to be moveable, put flashing lights on the back spikes, and attached electronic toy gun on the arm. The toy gun made me to be able to create light effect and bombing sound. We then paint the costume silver to mimic Mechagodzilla. Check out my costume below!

The Most Creative award was actually my second award in a row in the Costume Day. Last year, I won the Most Original Costume award for dressing up as a Gipsy Avenger, a robot jaeger from Pacific Rim movie. This costume was also awesome, but it couldn't create bombing sound like our Mechagodzilla costume.

Friday: Book Fair & Singing
On Friday, we had an event I’d been really looking forward to: the Book Fair. Basically, it’s when the school sets up a little bookstore and we get to buy books. I only ever get one book each year, and this time I picked up the new Dog Man comic: Big Jim Begins.

But not everything about the day was fun—there was one part I was dreading: the stage performance. I had to sing before the fair started, and to make things worse, I was the very first person to go on. I was singing Yellow by Coldplay, and honestly, I was super nervous. What made it even more stressful was that my parents were in the crowd.
Somehow, I managed to pull it off. I think what really helped was hearing my friends cheering for me—that gave me a little boost.
So yeah, that was my whole experience at the Harmony in Action event.
